One of the important responsibilities of a roofer is to get materials and equipment up on and down from the roof. This is normally done through the use of cranes or hoists.
The operation of roof hoists must be carried out by properly trained employees. Before each use and during operation, check the hoist for any loose bolts and pins, and that the brake is working properly.
