CRCA announces the 2021 Roofing Canada Award Winner

The Canadian Roofing Contractors Association (CRCA) is pleased to announce that Couverture Montréal Nord from Saint-Léonard QC is the recipient of the 2021 Roofing Canada Award for their work on the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (University of Montreal Health Centre) – CHUM Phase 2. Click here to see the award presentation.

CHUM Phase 2 is situated in the heart of busy downtown Montreal. This was coupled with winter work and heightened COVID protocols were one of the many challenges faced by Couverture Montréal Nord. The building has a copper roofing system and due to the shape and the 5% low inclination of the roof, every technical roofing detail was carefully studied by the teams at Couverture Montréal Nord and the Quebec Master Roofers Association. The membrane installed directly under the copper roof – had to be carefully selected to withstand very high temperatures.

“This year it was not an easy decision for the CRCA board of directors to select one winner, as we received a total of 12 entries – a new record!” says Bob Brunet CRCA’s Executive Director, “I must say that our members are doing some amazing projects.” This award-winning project and the roofing contractor (Couverture Montréal Nord) will be highlighted in the 2021 Fall/Winter issue of Roofing Canada magazine. Their project will also be featured on all marketing material for National Roofing Week 2022.

The Roofing Canada Award recognizes a project completed by a CRCA member based on outstanding workmanship, innovation, service to the community and or service to the industry. All entries were judged by their roofing industry peers.
