Under One Roof

Canadian Roofing Reference Manual

Introduction

Although every effort is made to construct watertight roofing systems, problems, such as water leaks, can occur.

Whenever a problem is identified, it should be investigated and corrected as soon as possible. This will prevent further damage to the roof or adjacent components, including interior components (ceilings, furniture, equipment). In some cases, identifying the cause of the problem is a process of trial and error.

The major steps in troubleshooting roofing problems are identify the cause of the problem; and repairing the problem.
