CRCA Launches Leading Edge Roofing Specifications Manual

Ottawa, ON, September 25, 2012 – A new roofing specification manual produced by the Canadian Roofing Contractors’ Association (CRCA) is now available and provides the roofing industry in Canada with up to date information on leading edge roofing innovation. The manual was developed in consultation with a range of Canada’s experts in the roofing business.

“The manual will be of benefit to many groups – including architects/specifiers, building owners, building scientists and consultants, contractors and manufacturers”, said Bob Brunet, Executive Director of CRCA. “We are pleased to release this publication to Canada’s roofing industry; we know it will be a valuable tool.”

“The manual provides the reader with a fundamental understanding of the overall roofing assembly and many innovations that have occurred in the past decade” said Ed Gallos, Chair of the Canadian Roofing Contractors’ National Technical Committee. “The manual would not be complete without including “green” roofs and photovoltaic roofing installations as well.”

CRCA has completely revamped the specifications within its trademark manual. The information is presented in an easy to use format key to specifiers in the roofing business. The manual is comprehensive and includes all the commonly used low slope roofing assemblies built in Canada as well as asphalt and wood shingles.

In total, the manual includes more than 30 roofing assembly specifications and more than 175 detailed drawings. This new manual is double in size compared to its’ predecessor.
