Canadian Roofing Reference Manual

4.2 Cold Process Roofing

Cold process roofing systems are built-up roofing systems (BUR) that consist of multiple plies of roofing membrane (either felts, mats or fabrics) that are laminated with a cold adhesive and surfaced with a cold-applied coating.

These types of systems are used to eliminate the concerns that are associated with hot bitumen application by substituting asphalt cutbacks for the hot-mopped bitumen as the interplay and surfacing bitumen.
