Canadian Roofing Reference Manual

1.5 Torch Safety

Roofers must use extreme caution to prevent accidents particularly when working with an open flame on a construction site. Carelessness could lead to damage to property, serious injury or even loss of life.

Any roofer who will be using a torch should complete the CRCA National Torch Safety Program or an equivalent provincial torch safety program and be recertified as required. This safety program will include proper application, maintenance and safety procedures when handling torching equipment.

This section outlines basic precautions and proper procedures that roofers should follow for torch safety.
