On peut aussi utiliser du gravier concass\u00e9 (de 25 mm [1 po] ou plus) pour servir de lest, mais un mat de protection doit \u00eatre \u00e9tendu par-dessus la membrane avant de placer le ballast en gravier afin de pr\u00e9venir les dommages \u00e0 la membrane par toute perforation. Les pierres de lest doivent \u00eatre conformes aux exigences du fabricant de membranes en ce qui concerne la r\u00e9sistance au vent, en ce qui concerne les dimensions et le taux de recouvrement. Il est habituellement n\u00e9cessaire que le lest en pierres soit conforme aux exigences de la norme ASTM D448, de dimensions 4, 357 ou 3, avec des pierres plus grosses n\u00e9cessaires pour des taux de recouvrement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s. On peut \u00e9galement utiliser des pav\u00e9s de b\u00e9ton au lieu du gravier pour servir de lest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9311\" src=\"http:\/\/roofingcanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/7.2.4.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"147\" height=\"148\" \/>Bien que le lest retienne la membrane en place, il faut attacher la membrane m\u00e9caniquement, habituellement au moyen de baguettes en plastique ou en m\u00e9tal, sur le p\u00e9rim\u00e8tre et autour des grandes ouvertures du toit au moyen de syst\u00e8mes d\u2019attache approuv\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le cas de la plupart des couvertures en pose libre lest\u00e9es, le lest en pierre est appliqu\u00e9 au taux d\u2019environ 60 kg\/m2 (1 200 lb\/carr\u00e9). Dans les r\u00e9gions o\u00f9 le vent est fort, il pourrait \u00eatre n\u00e9cessaire d\u2019utiliser plus de lest ou d\u2019autres m\u00e9thodes d\u2019attache additionnelles sur la totalit\u00e9 ou une partie de la couverture. Parce que les mat\u00e9riaux ne sont pas fix\u00e9s, la pente est un facteur important.
